About Me
Rev. Doctor Mark Pumphrey
spent more than four decades in pastoral ministry, serving congregations across Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Colorado — including as pastor of South Broadway Christian Church in Denver, a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He holds a bachelor’s degree from Phillips University (1971), a Master of Divinity (1977), and a doctorate from Phillips Theological Seminary (1995).
Now retired, Mark channels that same pastoral curiosity into Lyfting Me Up, a blog that began with an unlikely second act: driving for Lyft. With well over a thousand rides logged, Mark found that the front seat of a car had a lot in common with a lifetime of ministry — strangers, stories, and the small moments that reveal something true. What started as reflections from behind the wheel has grown into an ongoing journal of life, memory, faith, and the things worth noticing on the way through.
He remains active as Treasurer of the Phillips University Legacy Foundation and lives with his wife, Mary Kay. They are the parents of four and grandparents of seven.
